Crisco is not a vegetable shortening.  It’s cottonseed oil which is not even a food product.  What Crisco is one of those Frankenfood that Smuckers has produced in their labs with Igor to assist.  Again we wonder why we are getting Cancer and all the Great Doctors in America just can’t seem to figure it out.  We are all fat little piggies because the Smuckers company decided that wanted profit over all else.  Forget about those two nice little boys fishing and talking about tradition of fine jam and jelly making. The truth is there is no tradition in jam or jelly or Crisco shortening.   The cotton plant is the most strayed crop in the US.  You asked stray with what? Insecticide!  All kinds of wonderful cancer causing stuff that can turn your body into a cancer generating machine.  You wonder why the insurance companies don’t want to insure us. We are a nation of lab rats for the food industry.  We don’t need the Mediterrian diet , the South Beach Diet or any special diet we just need good healthy food to feed to our families.  Wikipedia says:

Some nutritionists argue that while the formula has been changed to remove the trans fatty acids, the fully hydrogenated oil used to replace them may not be good for health. Crisco and similar low-trans-fat products are formed by the interesterification of a mixture of fully-hydrogenated oils and partially-hydrogenated oils. The composition of the resultant triglycerides is random, and may contain combinations of fatty acids not commonly found in nature.[6][7] A recent study showed that interesterified fat increased volunteers’ blood sugar by 20 percent while simultaneously lowering the body’s HDL cholesterol.[8]

Since cotton crops are under far less chemical regulation than other crops used specifically for food, many pesticides or chemicals can be used on them that are illegal for use on food crops. Products derived from cottonseed can enter into the food chain via a legal loophole[clarification needed] in the regulation of food and chemicals by the United States Food and Drug Administration, possibly leading to consumption of significantly elevated amounts of pesticides or chemicals

When ask Dr. Andrew Weil, M.D. about cottonseed oil he said,”Definitely not. As a matter of fact, in my book, Eight Weeks to Optimum Health, one of the first things I ask readers to do is to go through their pantry shelves and throw out anything made with cottonseed oil. I regard it as unhealthy because it is too high in saturated fat and too low in monounsaturated fat. What’s more, cottonseed oil may contain natural toxins and probably has unacceptably high levels of pesticide residues (cotton is not classified as a food crop, and farmers use many agrichemicals when growing it). Be on the lookout for cottonseed oil in packaged foods and avoid products that contain it. Manufacturers like it because it’s cheap, and products that say “may contain one or more of these oils” and list cottonseed, will almost certainly contain it.
