JERRY FALWELL—RIP–GOT A LOT OF ESPANING TO DO, JERRY

I was brought up in the world much like Jerry Falwell, world of fire and brimestone. You see Jerry Falwell knew what he was doing, but I don’t think he could help himself. He knew how to push the buttons of his followers. He knew about fear factors and damnation. That’s what preachers do. A man of such limited intellectual assets, he had to depend on scripture, trickery and right down lying to keep his place in his limited world of religious hangers on. It would be hard for me to sleep at night knowing that some poor sick person would send me his last nickel thinking that might get him into heaven. I had an uncle who would send money to people like Jerry Falwell for blessed water or prayer clothes. A man who was of very limited means. There is a whole world of Jerry Falwells seeking donations for the Lord. “What you send you will get back seven fold.” Yes, folks that’s what the world of T.V. and radio preachers are all about. It’s about preaching to the choir. Sinners don’t listen to guys like Jerry Falwell. It’s the saved that listen. That’s the base who are milked weekly of their money. Some with not much to give. T.V. preaching is about taking not giving. It’s about drama and salvation. It’s about playing on the fear of the weak and sick. I only speak from experience. Jerry has left us and is in a better place. He is now irrelevant. He is as if he never was. He is just a very small asterisk in the scheme of things. A man who went against all the the teachings of Jesus about love and understanding. Teachings that was pushed aside in favor of politics, which is a no-no for all the men of God. In the end, Jerry was in show business. He was a star of his own little drama theater. I guess it’s really easy to forget your role with the sound of the crowd and the smell of grease paint. ”Mr. Falwell, I think it’s time for your close up.”
John McCain has lost his mind, if he ever had one. He wants to make Georgie tax cuts permanent. The man can’t have his war and no money to pay for it. Half a trillion dollars for a war with no end in sight and he wants tax cuts. All he is doing is telling the super rich that he is going to take care of them. That’s what people like John do. I really don’t want another idiot in the White House this soon. We need a century to recover from the one we have right now. Am I missing something here. If McCain is elected will the war go on for years or another decade. John would be too old to remember what the hell the war is all about. I don’t mind old but I do mind stupid. I realize the Republican Party is discinagrating like a sand castle on the beach but duh. I’m really tire of living in a make belief world. Making out like the world is only 2000 years old. Making out like Religion is science. Making out like we have a real President. Making out like Mr. Gonzales is a honest and trustworthy human being. Making out like the Religious Right is not running this country. Making out like Rudy Giuliani isn’t a crook. Making out like any of those 10 Republicans who are running for President have a chance in hell of winning. Making out like the polls lie and George Bush is really a loved and revered man. Making out like the war in Iraq is not a war about oil. That Cheney is not a creep and a jerk. Even worse that Cheney is not a evil man trying to make America a hell for of all of us. I tired of acting like we have to live in a world like this. Tired of believing that emigration is causing all the problems in America. That’s it’s not the Republicans and their fear factory at work. Just baiting the bigots of America. We can’t take another 8 years of make believe. We can’t elect someone like John McCain who lives in a make believe world. I thought that America was still shell shock by 9/11 but I think the Republicans, the party that was in power, has a worse case that the rest of us. We are recovering but they are still in their make believe world.
